Project Examples - Destination Management & Tourism

The Brinore Tramroad, a Heritage Lottery and multi-partner funded project was managed by Claire on behalf of the Brinore Tramroad Conservation Forum.

She arranged for sections of the tramroad to be restored as well as the associated structures such as the lime kilns, way-marking posts and the commissioning of a replica tram to accompany the interpretation panels.  Claire commissioned the writing of a book giving the history of the tramroad and walks that can be taken from it.  Then there were groups of volunteers to organise for archaeological digs and restoration works, meetings to prepare and minute - and as with any funding project, the finances to manage.  The sales from the booklet continue to keep the tramroad as an important local feature and visitor attraction.

ERA21 Ltd. has developed a destination management diagram for this project that hightlights the key elements of need to be addressed in order to deliver effective destination management.
