Green Dragon Environmental Management Standard for Wales

Andrew Gray (MSc – Integrated Environmental Management Bath & IEMA) was one of the architects of the Green Dragon Environmental Management Standard for Wales.  This aims to reward businesses for the progress that they make towards a formal or informal management system.

Claire Gray (PGCE) pioneered the evaluation of sustainable development principles in the curricula of Further Education Colleges in South Wales and designed the Green Dragon logo.

Sustainable Development – Corporate Support

We have developed new strategic approaches to corporate environmental management with the inclusion of sustainable development principles in the Torfaen Regeneration Strategy and have developed a sustainable development evaluation process for brownfield sites for partners working in Germany, France, The Netherlands, England and Wales. We organized the first Business Environment Conference in Wales in 2001, which launched the Carbon Trust in Wales.

Grant Funded Environmental Projects

We have been successful in securing over £5million of grant funding for Environmental Management projects, including the setting up of environmental advisors, providing grants for new technologies and supporting environmental management systems.  We were authors of the concept to develop an eco-centre on an industrial estate, and are currently working to improve sustainable development on brownfield sites across Europe

Environmental Education

We have undertaken research to evaluate the level of inclusion of sustainable development principles in the curricula of Further Education Colleges in South Wales.  This work included the training of tutors and researching training material for Construction courses.  Our current assignment is working for Caerphilly County Borough Council to ascertain the opportunities to develop an “A”-Level and Vocational Environmental Design Course.

ERA21Ltd. works with the public and private sector to improve environmental management performance.  Our experience has been built on working with over 300 clients in this field, from Companies House and Interbrew to small two-person businesses, delivering environmental management systems, i.e. ISO14001, staff training and undertaking environmental reviews.

We aim to get to know your business in order to tailor make our service to your needs.  We pride ourselves on a rapid turnaround service whilst delivering a high standard, on time and within budget.

Environmental Impact Assessments

We have undertaken environmental impact assessments (EIA's) for major and minor power line route selections for the electricity utility, ESKOM, in South Africa.  We also undertook EIA’s for substation sites for ESKOM and for a new private leisure development on the South Coast of Natal, South Africa.
